Travelers who share our passion for authentic and meaningful experiences find in Central Hoteles the perfect ally to explore Mexico City with all their senses. The service philosophy and mission of Hotel Zócalo Central are part of one of the new trends in the global hospitality industry, where leading concepts such as the “art hotel” and the “experience hotel” take center stage. These trends are based on the fusion of cultural heritage expressions and lodging, transforming its rooms, hallways, and every corner into a kind of gallery.

Central Hoteles celebrates the twentieth anniversary of Hotel Zócalo Central. This is the perfect occasion for various Mexican creators to come together around a common goal: to show you the best of Mexico. For 12 months (March 2019–February 2020), Hotel Zócalo Central will enrich guests’ stays with multidisciplinary interventions that reinforce the chain’s commitment to sharing Mexican history and culture through its tourism products, contributing to the repositioning of the Historic Center.

These interventions begin with Carmen Rión and Horchata Pop, whose proposals and aesthetic solutions will enhance the experience of Hotel Zócalo Central guests.

Carmen Rión

A researcher and fashion designer recognized in Mexico and worldwide for her role as a pioneer in the revival of traditional textiles and their integration into contemporary fashion. Since 2003, her collaborative work with groups of artisan women in the Highlands of Chiapas has aimed at professionalizing artisanal design practices and recovering traditional processes within these communities.

Horchata Pop

William Flores, known as Horchata Pop, is one of the leading architecture and urban photographers in Mexico City. His work has been featured in various media outlets and in several hotels throughout the city.

Ihua

Ihua means “woman” in Náhuatl. It is the label through which Fundación Origen promotes the work of women and communities by offering artisan design products that honor tradition and foster the authenticity of creativity among Indigenous peoples.
